The safety and health of employees takes precedence over any other duties of this position. Under general supervision of the Plant Manager, this position will be directly responsible for implementing and sustaining optimum maintenance practices with a goal of 100% Uptime at optimum maintenance costs. Key focus of this position is to implement processes, procedures, and methods around maintenance activities that will drive a culture of Zero Breakdowns. This position will require an excellent balance of organizational skills, leadership skills, strong work ethic, written and verbal communication skills, and dynamic people skills.
Primary
Responsibilities:
Responsible for personal commitment to safety, working toward an injury-free environment. Must also ensure safety of all direct reports.
Develop, implement, and sustain an effective shop structure to support all maintenance activities in the mill.
Assist in developing and preparation of the annual plant operating budget. Meet or exceed key maintenance performance metrics (to include budgeted repair costs) as outlined by the plant manager.
Work with Division Maintenance Excellence team to develop and implement shop vision to include excellence in:
Planning and Scheduling Effectiveness
Proactive Maintenance culture
Preventive/Predictive Maintenance Process
Root Cause/Corrective Action Process
CMMS optimization
Inventory Control and Process
Lubrication Excellence
New Hire Process
Training Process
Shop 5S
Accountability Process (to include PM effectiveness)
Identify, propose, and assist in implementing roadmap/capital projects to improve operational performance.
Ensure PM Calendar is developed for mill. Ensure adequate PM Downtime is scheduled each year to perform needed off-line PM's listed in PM Calendar.
Build and maintain productive employee relationships to drive employee satisfaction. Provide direction, training, and development as needed. Provide coaching, counseling, or discipline as needed. Recommend disciplinary action to plant manager, and review disciplinary action by supervisors for effectiveness and consistency. Work with HR to address employee concerns and issues. Support plant union negotiations, as applicable.
Develop succession planning for all key roles in the shop. This will include education and training plans.
Ensure optimum Inventory is maintained to supply the mill. Ensure inventory controls are in place to identify process improvement opportunities and corrective/proactive measures are put in place to improve.
Ensure effective, timely and constant communication lines are available between the shop and all members of the mill leadership team. Ensure maintenance plans and schedules are communicated and known by all.
